Every October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the one month out of the year were events and programs are set up to help women with breast cancer and prevent breast cancer in women without the disease.
Recently, my mom got a mammogram. She was absolutely terrified that it would hurt because our cousin said that it smashes your breast down to the size of a dime! Needless to say, she was reluctant to do it, but, as she found out, it wasn’t that bad–uncomfortable, but not painful.
Women, we cannot be afraid to try early protection procedures because people around us have “horror,” stories.
Get a mammogram. Do a breast self exam (BSE). You’re not only helping yourself, but you’re insuring that you’ll be around to spread your love to friends and family and they in return.
